Sometimes trying to clear or repair your drain on your own isn’t the best idea. This is because all drain cleaners are not created equal. Some can actually damage your drain or piping if used too frequently or incorrectly. When you call Bill Frusco Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling for drain repair in Philadelphia or Horsham, you can rest assured that we can effectively and accurately fix your drain problems. For your convenience, we have offices in both Philadelphia and Horsham, PA.
Do you need drain repair in Bucks County? Call us today if you notice:
Water coming from your faucets should always be clear of debris with no discoloration. If home solutions fail to fix these problems, the blockage will need to be removed by our professional Horsham and Philadelphia drain repair experts.
If DIY drain cleaning does not work, the blockage will need to be removed by a plumber using drain snaking or rodding. Both of these methods use a special auger which is inserted into the drain and then rotated in order to remove the clog. Cleaning out drains is typically done with water under high pressure that is fed into the drain through an opening at the bottom.
Drain cleaning costs vary on factors such as: how large the drain pipe is, whether it needs to be snaked or rodded, if it is an exterior drain line or an interior drain line, what material it’s made up of (PVC versus cast iron), etc. We can provide a free estimate for your drain repair in Montgomery County before we begin so you can plan accordingly.
Rodding is used mostly for larger drain pipes between 3″ and 6″. A plumber will insert a drain rod into the drain pipe and then use it either by hand or with a machine that causes the auger cable to twist at high speeds. The twisting motion of water being forced against the blockage causes it to dislodge from all sides, which means there are no “weak spots” making rodding very effective. It also means that drain rods should be removed slowly so as not to break apart the clog while removing it or cause more damage downstream of where the drain rod is.
Drain snaking, on the other hand, uses a drain auger cable and is best for small drain lines of 1 ½” or smaller. It can also be used in drain lines that are as large as 4″ but this will require several hours of rodding to clear them out. Drain snaking works by feeding the drain auger into the drain line and then rotating it at high speeds which dislodges any sort of blockage it encounters. When removing drain snakes from drains they should be done slowly especially if you have PVC pipes because they can crack and burst under stress and pressure.
When we clean drains, we remove the cover and pull the pipe down to expose the drain. Then we insert a jet into the drain and blast away any clogs using high-pressured water. We make sure to check the entire length of drain piping and clear out all debris.
After we finish clearing out your plumbing system, we put every drain cover back into place and ensure that they are secure. Our team does a thorough inspection of your drains to make sure there is no leakage or damage to the pipes. As always, we explain everything we did and recommend drain clearing maintenance that can be done to prevent future repairs.
The benefits of drain repair include reduced drain backups, better drain flow, and the elimination of foul odors coming from drain pipes.
Professional-grade drain cleaners give a deep clean to your drains without damaging them with chemicals or bleach. This is because they use a pressurized jet of fresh water from the opening at the bottom of each drain pipe.
You should be concerned about your drain if it shows signs of rust, has recurring clogs, has an unpleasant smell coming from it, or makes odd noises. If something like a cracked pipe or damaged water line is causing complications in your plumbing system, you’ll want to find out sooner rather than later. Getting it fixed quickly will prevent high water bills and unsanitary conditions on your property.
